Alan Hannah Collection Love Supreme 2019 at White Gallery, London Bridal Week
For those of you who have followed me from the very beginning when I had my boutique will know my love for Alan Hannah. They were the very first designer I ever selected for the boutique and every year never ceased to amaze me with their stunning creations. Today I couldn’t be more ecstatic to have been sitting front row at their 2019 Love Supreme Collection in White Gallery at London Bridal Week. Albeit in a different capacity as a blogger rather than a buyer with my trusted colleague Oisin beside me trying to convince me I need to open another boutique :-).
This is Oisin’s first time at White Gallery, Alan’s show being the first for him to witness and it did not disappoint!
Designer Marguerite took her inspiration for this new collection from Autumn of last year, sourcing beautiful laces and appliqués in copper and gold tones creating luxurious silk and crepe skirts adorned with highlights and cascades of Autumnal coloured embellishment.
”It was Autumn and from the radio I heard the faintly melancholy opening notes of John Coltrane’s classic and I was looking out on the seasonal landscape. I always fall in love with the confetti of leaves cascading down as time slowly moves the year into a transition. Partly veiled trees that allow light to pass through revealing their lacy skeleton and creating a filigreed detail of sparse leaves and spidery branches surrounding the strong structure of the tree, almost analogy’s to the ideas coming into my head. Strong form and structure adorned with fine, almost floaty detail like the remaining golden leaves of Autumn.”
As the show began we we’re introduced to autumn golds, vibrant, deep, sometimes transparent. The collection moved onto strong structural classic shapes almost Victorian feeling with open corset backs and finally returned to nature in the last two scenes where we were treated to gowns with cascading flowers and appliqués suggesting the birth of the new.
To summise the only phrase that comes to mind is ‘Simply Breathtaking’
